Ibuprofen Suspension 100mg/5ml 100ml offers a meticulously crafted oral solution designed to alleviate discomfort and lower fevers in kids. This sugar-free, orange-flavoured remedy is a must-have for any parent's medicine cabinet, providing rapid relief for common issues such as headaches, earaches, toothaches, and symptoms related to teething or sore throats. The active ingredient, ibuprofen, is part of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) family, effectively altering the body's reaction to pain, swelling, and elevated temperatures. It's particularly useful for children aged between 3 months to 9 years, especially in managing symptoms after vaccinations.

  • Effective Pain Relief: Specifically targets and diminishes various types of discomfort including headaches, earaches, and toothaches.
  • Fever Reduction: Demonstrated to provide extended relief from fever more effectively than paracetamol, establishing it as a preferred option for feverish conditions.
  • Sugar-Free Formula: Perfect for parents concerned about their child's sugar consumption, ensuring medication doesn't contribute to dental problems.
  • Pleasant Taste: The orange flavour facilitates easy administration to young patients.
  • Anti-Inflammatory Properties: Aids in reducing inflammation, offering solace from swelling and soreness.
  • Ease of Use: Includes an easy-dose syringe, making it straightforward to administer accurate doses.

What symptoms can be treated?

Is it suitable for post-vaccination fever?
Indeed, it is especially useful for managing fever and inflammation following vaccinations.

Ibuprofen Suspension contains maltitol. If you have been told by a doctor that your children have an intolerance to fructose, contact their doctor before taking this medicine. Maltitol may have a mild laxative effect. Calorific value 2.3kcal/g maltitol.

Do not give Ibuprofen for Children to your child if:

  • They have ever had a reaction after taking ibuprofen, aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medicines, or to any of the other ingredients.
  • They weigh less than 5kg or are under 3 months of age.
  • They are taking other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) painkillers, or aspirin with a daily dose above 75mg.
  • They have (or have had two or more episodes of) a stomach ulcer, perforation, or bleeding.
  • They have severe kidney, heart, or liver failure.
  • They have inherited problems coping with fructose/fruit sugar (hereditary fructose intolerance) due to the maltitol content.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before giving Ibuprofen for Children if:

  • Your child has or has had high blood pressure, heart problems, or a stroke, as there is a small increased risk of heart problems with ibuprofen.
  • Your child has a condition which may put them at risk of heart problems, such as diabetes or high cholesterol.
  • Your child has asthma or any allergic disease of the lungs.
  • Your child has or has had liver, kidney, heart, or bowel problems.

Common side effects: Ibuprofen is generally well-tolerated, but the most common side effects are related to stomach irritation, including abdominal pain, indigestion, and nausea. Taking ibuprofen with food may help prevent these. Serious side effects, such as ulceration or bleeding of the stomach or intestines, are rare but more likely with high doses or in elderly people. If your child experiences vomiting blood or passes black/tarry/bloodstained stools, consult a doctor immediately.

Rare side effects: NSAIDs may cause serious skin reactions, such as blistering or peeling (e.g. Stevens-Johnson syndrome). Stop using this medicine and consult a doctor if your child develops a skin rash or sores in the mouth after taking this medicine.
