Nurofen Plus tablets provide short-term relief from acute, moderate pain that has not been relieved by other painkillers. The tablets contain ibuprofen, an NSAID, and codeine phosphate, an opioid analgesic, to reduce pain and inflammation.

What types of pain can Nurofen Plus relieve?

How does Nurofen Plus work? Ibuprofen reduces hormones that cause pain and swelling. Codeine blocks pain signals to the brain, working together to relieve pain and reduce inflammation.

Can I take Nurofen Plus if I’m pregnant? Do not take this product during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Consult your doctor for advice.

Can I take this product if I’m taking other medication? Consult your doctor or our pharmacist before taking Nurofen Plus with other medications, especially NSAIDs, antidepressants, and medications for blood pressure.

Common Side Effects:

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhea, gas, bloating, constipation
  • Indigestion
  • Increased risk of heart attack or stroke

Serious Side Effects: Seek emergency medical attention for signs of severe allergic reactions, such as swelling, rash, breathing difficulties, or loss of consciousness.

Do NOT use if:

  • You have allergies to ibuprofen, codeine, or any ingredients in the product.
  • You have had stomach ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, or perforation.
  • You have breathing difficulties or chronic constipation.
  • You are under 12 years old, pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Consult your doctor if you have:

  • Asthma, liver, kidney, or heart problems
  • High blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disorder
  • History of gastrointestinal disease, high cholesterol, or heart attack
  • Suffer from myasthenia gravis or are elderly

This product contains codeine which can cause addiction if taken for more than 3 days continuously. If your symptoms persist beyond 3 days, consult your doctor. Store all medicines out of sight and reach of children. Always read the included leaflet carefully before using this product.

Always consult your GP or pharmacist if you have concerns or questions about using this product.

Swallow 1 – 2 tablets with water up to 3 times a day.

Leave at least 4 hours between doses.

Do not take more than 6 tablets in any 24-hour period.

Medication

  • Blood thinners
  • Corticosteroids
  • Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as fluoxetine, sertraline, paroxetine, which may interact with ibuprofen
  • Other NSAIDs such as Aspirin, Naproxen, etc
  • Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) used for depression, such as phenelzine, tranylcypromine or isocarboxazid, either currently using or used in the last 14 days
