Gaviscon Infant Sachets provide fast, soothing, and long-lasting relief from the pain and discomfort of heartburn and acid indigestion for your children. They can be used to treat gastric reflux (a condition in which the acid stomach contents flow upwards into the food pipe) and flatulence caused by gastric reflux.
Important Information:
Gaviscon is not to be used by infants under 1 year of age, except under medical supervision.
Do not:
- Use Gaviscon Infant with other food thickening agents or infant milk preparations containing a thickening agent.
- Use more than the stated amount.
- Give more than six times in 24 hours.
- Use if the sachet is damaged.
- Store above 30°C.
Note:
Products containing Mannitol may have a laxative effect or cause diarrhoea.
If your infant:
- Has been put on a low sodium (salt) diet, ask your doctor or other health professional before taking the product.
Possible side effects:
May have a laxative effect and cause diarrhoea due to the product's mannitol content.
Breast-fed infants:
- Under 4.5kg (10lb): One dose.
- Over 4.5kg (10lb): Two doses.
Bottle-fed infants:
- Under 4.5kg (10lb): One dose to be mixed into not less than 115ml of each feed in the bottle and shaken well.
- Over 4.5kg (10lb): Two doses to be mixed into not less than 225ml of each feed in the bottle and shaken well.
Young Children:
Two doses, prepared as for breast-fed infants. To be taken after each meal.

Patient Details
Medical Conditions
- The baby was born pre-maturely
- The child is allergic to magnesium alginate, sodium alginate or any of the other ingredients
- The child is being sick, has a fever or diarrhoea
- You have been told or it is suspected that your child has damage to their kidneys or they have been put on a low salt diet
- You have been told that the child has a blockage in their gut (an intestinal obstruction)
