Lactulose Solution is a proven remedy to help relieve constipation. A change of diet, a lack of exercise, ignoring the urge to have a bowel movement, some medications, and some diseases can all impact your risk of constipation. It's important to remember that constipation can become serious if left untreated for too long.

How does it work?

Lactulose Solution softens stools and promotes movement through the bowel. It may take between 24 and 72 hours before normal defecation occurs. Increasing fiber intake in your diet, drinking plenty of fluids, and exercising can be helpful in treating and preventing constipation.

About Lactulose Solution:

Lactulose is a synthetic disaccharide, a sugar molecule composed of two smaller sugar molecules bonded together, in this case fructose and galactose. It is not metabolised or absorbed by the body. Instead, bacteria in the colon or large bowel break down lactulose into acids. These acids draw water into the colon, softening the stool. Lactulose also promotes peristalsis, the movement of food through the intestines, making bowel evacuation easier.

The prolonged use of laxatives is undesirable.

You should carefully read all product packaging and labels prior to use.

Adults, the elderly & children over 12 years: 15ml twice daily (3 x 5ml spoonfuls), gradually reduced.

Children 5 to 12 years: 10ml twice daily (2 x 5ml spoonfuls), gradually reduced.

Children 1 to 5 years: 5ml twice daily (1 x 5ml spoonful).

Children under 1 year: 2.5ml twice daily (½ x 5ml spoonful).

Each 5ml contains: Lactulose 3.3g.

May also contain: Galactose, Lactose, Epilactose, Tagatose and Fructose.
