Reach Your Weight Loss Goals With Alli® Oral Capsules!
Alli® is an over-the-counter medication designed to help overweight adults lose excess weight. With their easy availability and weight-loss claims, could Alli® capsules be the solution you've been looking for to shed those extra pounds?
What Is Alli?
Alli® is a 60-milligram, over-the-counter version of orlistat, a weight-loss medication also available as the prescription drug Xenical (120 mg). Both Alli® and Xenical are designed to support weight loss when combined with a low-calorie, low-fat diet and regular exercise.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Alli® for adults 18 and older with a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or higher. Xenical, the prescription-strength version, is approved for adults with a BMI of 30 or more (classified as obese). It is also an option for those with a BMI between 27 and 30 who have additional health risks, such as high blood pressure or diabetes.
Uses for Alli®
Alli tablets for weight loss are made to help with weight loss in overweight adults aged 18 and older when combined with a reduced-calorie, low-fat diet.
Diet and exercise should always be the first step in any weight loss plan. It's a good idea to focus on these before considering the Alli capsule. Be sure to consult your doctor before beginning any exercise program.
How to Use Alli®?
If you are using Alli capsules to manage weight, be sure to read all directions on the product packaging before use.
If your doctor has prescribed this medication, read the Patient Information or contact us for more details. Take the medication by mouth as directed, typically 3 times a day. Take it with liquid during each meal that contains fat, or within 1 hour after the meal. If you skip a meal or your meal doesn’t contain fat, simply skip that dose. To decrease potential side effects, make sure no more than 30% of your daily calories come from fat, and spread your intake of fat, protein, and carbohydrates evenly across 3 main meals.
Do not increase the dose or use this medication more frequently than prescribed. Taking more will not improve your results and may increase the risk of side effects.
Because orlistat can affect the absorption of certain vitamins (A, D, E, K), it’s recommended to take a daily multivitamin that includes these nutrients. Be sure to take the multivitamin at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking orlistat, ideally at bedtime.
If you're also taking cyclosporine, take it at least 3 hours before or after orlistat to guarantee proper absorption. For levothyroxine, take it at least 4 hours before or after orlistat.
You should start seeing weight loss results within 2 weeks of starting Orlistat. If your condition doesn’t improve or worsens, let your doctor know.
